On the Road (How to Get Here)

Traveling to Durham, NH:

By Air:

Air service is available at Boston's Logan Airport, Manchester (NH) Airport, or Pease International Tradeport in Portsmouth, NH. If you're staying at the New England Center (see Lodging information), transportation is available to deliver you there directly. If you plan on renting a car anyway and can get the flight arrangements, Manchester Airport is the most convenient and least amount of traffic headaches.

For Logan Airport, besides the traditional car rental agencies, C & J Trailways (1-800-258-7111 outside NH, 1-603-742-5111 in NH) operates a shuttle bus service directly to downtown Durham, as well as stops in Dover, NH. Once in Durham, the New England Center is within walking distance (about ½ mile). The bus stops at the Lower Level of all terminals in Logan. Car rentals are also available at Manchester Airport and Pease Tradeport, but no shuttle service except the New England Center transportation is available. Delta and United Airlines offer service to Pease Tradeport. Please call if you are having troubles getting transportation from any of the airports, as we may be able to make arrangements to get you picked up and delivered.

By Car:

From Logan Airport:

Exit the airport and follow signs to Routes 1A and 1 North towards Maine and NH. Get on Route 95 North, then follow directions below.

From the South and East:

Take Interstate I-95 North into New Hampshire, to Exit 4 (Spaulding Turnpike and Routes 4 & 16). Follow the Spaulding Turnpike for 5½ miles, and take Exit 6W onto Route 4 West. Continue past the lights for Madbury Road, then take the next exit (Route 155A, UNH/Durham). Turn left at the bottom of the ramp, then take the second left (opposite the athletic fields). Follow to the end and turn right. Putnam Hall will be the white building off to your right, and Cole Hall is the brick building on the left. Park in the Visitor's Center Parking area just past Cole and Barton Hall, on the left.

From the North:

Take Interstate 93 South to Route 4/202 East. Follow Route 4 through two traffic circles (Epsom and Lee), then take the second exit on Route 155A for UNH/Durham. Bear right at the bottom of the ramp, then take the second left (opposite the athletic fields). Follow to the end and turn right. Putnam Hall will be the white building off to your right, and Cole Hall is the brick building on the left. Park in the Visitor's Center Parking area just past Cole and Barton Hall, on the left.

From the Manchester Airport:

Follow the signs out of the airport, then turn right at the light, heading towards Interstate 293. Go 1.3 miles, and turn right onto the ramp for 293 South/101 East. Follow the signs for 101 East, taking 93 North/101 East, and then Exit 7 towards Route 101 East. Go approx. 18 miles on 101 East, to Route 125 North (Epping). Follow Route 125 North through Epping to the traffic circle in Lee, and head East on Route 4. Take the second exit on Route 155A for UNH/Durham. Bear right at the bottom of the ramp, then take the second left (opposite the athletic fields). Follow to the end and turn right. Putnam Hall will be the white building off to your right, and Cole Hall is the brick building on the left. Park in the Visitor's Center Parking area just past Cole and Barton Hall, on the left.

Directions to the New England Center:

Once on the UNH campus, go past the second left, over the bridge that crosses the railroad tracks, then take the next left (Edgewood Road). Take the next right onto Strafford Avenue, and the New England Center will be on your right.

The CAD Lab:

Putnam Hall Lab:

Walk across the street from the Visitor's Parking Lot, and enter Putnam Hall at the front door. Proceed all the way down the long corridor, into the industrial arts shop, and through the double-doors at the opposite end of the shop. Take a right once through these doors go down the corridor (about 20 yards) the CAD Lab is at the end on the left (Room 22).

Parking:

On weekdays before 6pm you will need to have a UNH Parking Permit.
Go to the Visitors Center office to purchase a Parking Permit for your class.
With the Permit parking is available in the Visitor's Center Parking lot next to the Transit/Vistors Center at any of the meters (do not feed the meter).
Parking passes are not required on weekends.

Lodging:

The best deal on lodging is at the New England Center, which is on the UNH campus, within walking distance to Putnam Hall. Call (603) 862-2800 to inquire about rates and room availability. For those that prefer a traditional New England bed and breakfast, you might also try the University Guest House at 603-868-2728, the Holly House Bed & Breakfast at 603-868-7345, or the Pines Guest House at 603-868-3361, although they are beyond walking distance.

Lodging is also available in Dover and Portsmouth, assuming you have transportation:

The Woods Restaurant in the New England Center is highly recommended, and the usual fast food fare is available in downtown Durham (also walking distance). Portsmouth offers some of the finest seafood restaurants in New England, also.
